Receptor Tyrosine Kinases Title

Welcome to the TyReK database!

TyReK-DB (RecepTor tYRosinE Kinases Database) is a database devoted to the collection of information for receptor tyrosine kinases (RTKs) which belong to eukaryotic reference organisms. TyReK-DB provides a set of tools which allow searching, browsing and downloading the database's information based on various criteria and also includes the alignment search tool BLAST which can be used in order to BLAST a sequence against the (canonical) sequences of the RTKs stored in the database.
The proteins in the TyReK database were predicted to belong to the protein family of RTKs by the prediction tool "RTK-PRED" (http://thalis.biol.uoa.gr/RTK-PRED/). The proteins used as input to RTK-PRED numbered equal to 26771631 and belong to reference eukaryotic organisms of the UniprotKB database (December 2020 release). Specifically, the proteins of 1511 reference eukaryotic proteomes were mapped from the "Uniprot Proteomes" database to the "UniprotKB" database. The predicted RTKs, based on information from the "NCBI Taxonomy" database were classified into 10 distinct groups of Eukaryotes. These groups are the following: "Metazoa" - "Viridiplantae" - "Bigyra" - "Choanoflagellata" - "Cryptophyceae" - "Discosea" - "Evosea" - "Filasterea" - "Ichthyosporea" - "Oomycota".
Further information were also collected from other databases (for more information visit the "About" page), based on which, the predicted RTKs underwent a specific processing which offered an evaluation of their nature as RTKs. At the same time new information emerged and new assumptions were made upon our findings.
