The nuclear envelope is a membrane system which surrounds the nucleoplasm of eukaryotic cells. It is composed of the nuclear lamina, nuclear pore complexes and two nuclear membranes. The space between the two membranes is called the nuclear intermembrane space.
The membrane surrounding the nucleus. This term is used when it is not known if the protein is found in or associated with the inner or outer nuclear membrane.
Involved in mitotic nuclear envelope reassembly by promoting dephosphorylation of baf-1 during mitotic exit. Coordinates the control of baf-1 dephosphorylation by inhibiting VRK1 kinase and promoting dephosphorylation of baf-1 by protein phosphatase 2A (PP2A), thereby facilitating nuclear envelope assembly. It is unclear whether it acts as a real PP2A regulatory subunit or whether it is involved in recruitment of the PP2A complex. {Experimental EvidencePubMed:22770216}.
